Graham-Cracker House
What's the easiest Gingerbread House for young Children? The Graham Cracker Gingerbread House! It's easy, simple and kids love it.
Below is a list of Materials Needed and Instructions (per child):
- Graham crackers (4 whole Graham Crackers per house)
- Royal Icing
- Decorators Frosting or Canned Frosting
- Plastic Knife
- Paper Plate
- Candy
For the two gabled walls - taking a whole Graham Cracker, keep the bottom half of the Graham Cracker whole and with a serrated knife, carefully cut from the half-way mark, cutting diagonal to the middle of top edge of the Graham Cracker.
For the two side walls - break another Graham Cracker in half and use each half as a side wall.
For the roof - break another Graham Cracker in half and use each half as a roof.
Assemble the house on a paper plate (see photo) - it's easiest to lay the crackers flat, place frosting along the edges, and then stand them all up to form the house.
After the house has dried, the child can then put frosting on the house and stick candy to it. It's sometimes easier to allow the child to frost using canned frosting since it won't dry out as fast as Royal Icing will.
Children are very proud to have built their first Gingerbread house! This works great for Children's Gingerbread House parties as well.
